(1997), her film debut. She then turned down the
lead in the WB scare-com Buffy the
Vampire Slayer for the TV hit Dawson's
Creek (1998). Like most of her family, Katie
took part in athletics in elementary school. Despite
being a talented and competitive basketball player,
she soon discovered that her passions lay not in
sports, but in the performing arts. Supported by her
family at every step, from the age of 13, Katie
spent her free time attending acting classes, dance
classes and voice coaching lessons. She had great
ambitions, yet she remained modest and pragmatic
